**How to Mint a Handle**

Minting Handles is really easy!

First step is to navigate on a **browser** or if you're using a mobile wallet, **open the built-in browser**: [handle.me](https://handle.me)

On the top right, click on **Connect Wallet** and select your wallet:

Once the wallet has been connected, use the search bar and type the Handle you would like to mint such as $handle.courses. Click on **Mint Handle**, sign the transaction by either using your wallet password or your hardware wallet. The Handle will be minted and delivered within a couple of minutes.

How to Mint a Handle

**Personalize your Handle - Part 1**

Changing Background, Border and Circuit Board Color.

ADA Handle has a lot of fun features, one of them is what we call **Personalization**. Personalization, allows you to add a PFP, add a background image, change the background color of your Handle, add Social Media information, add a QR code, add addresses from other blockchains such as BTC, ETH or SOL and also create your own Handle Portal Page.

In this lesson, you will learn how to **change** the background color, border color, circuit board color of your Handle.

1st step: navigate to [handle.me](https://handle.me) > connect your wallet > select the **Handle** you want to personalize on the top right and click on **Personalize**

2nd step: Now that you are inside the **Designer tab**, this is where you will change the background colors. Click on **Background** inside the Designer tab then Toggle **Color*. As soon as you toggle it, a color icon will appear, hover your mouse over the **black** icon and click on the **pencil** to edit your color.

3rd step: You will see all the different color options you can set for the background of the Handle. You can also see the eyedropper that allows you to select any color you see on your page as the color for your Handle. Once you are done, click on **Save.**

4th step: Toggle **Border Color** and follow the same steps you did for the background color. Once you are done, click on **Save**.

5th step: Toggle **Circuit Color** and follow the same steps you did for Background and Border color.

Your Handle, should now look similar to the image above.

If you are happy with how your Handle looks, click on **Checkout**.

You will now see how much you will need to pay to Personalize your Handle. ADA Handle charges a flat-fee of 3 ADA everytime you personalize your Handle + Blockchain fees. You have a 1-hour grace period to make any changes and only pay blockchain fees. Click on Create Transaction, and click on Approve if you like the way the Handle looks. Wallet pop-up will appear and sign the transaction. It will take less than a minute for your Handle to be updated!

Personalize your Handle - Part 1

**Personalize your Handle - Part 2**

Adding / purchasing a custom ADA Handle background for your Handle.

In this lesson, you will learn how to personalize your Handle by purchasing and minting a custom background.

As of right now there are 20+ projects that created ADA Handle backgrounds. These projects whitelisted PolicyIDs related to their project, so if you hold any assets related to those PolicyIDs you will be able to add them as a PFP or as a background to your Handle. Our UI automatically scans your wallet and it will display as available for you to customize your Handle.

Let's start by buying a custom background.

As with the previous lessons, **first step** is to navigate to [handle.me](https://handle.me) > connect your wallet > and choose the Handle you want to personalize, on the top right and click on **Personalize**.

2nd step: Now that you are inside the **Designer** tab click on Background, **toggle** NFT and click on **Add NFTs**.
You will see 2 tabs at the top: Wallet and Marketplace.

**Wallet** is where you will see all available Handle backgrounds you currently own, this can either be backgrounds you already minted, or allowed NFTs or tokens you own from projects that created Backgrounds. In this example, you can see that I own 3 Backgrounds (created by ADA Handle) and a Goat Tribe PFP.

*note* If you don't see any images inside Wallet, don't worry, I'm going to show you how to purchase and mint a Background now!

**Marketplace** is where you will see all the different collections created by different projects. At the time of writing, there are over 30 different collections you can choose from. So click on **Marketplace** and scroll to select a collection you are interested in. For this example, I will select the ADA Handle collection.

You are now inside ADA Handle's collection and as you can see there are many different backgrounds you can choose from and the price each backgrounds costs (there are also free backgrounds). In this example, I will choose the 2nd background called **Advent Star** and it costs 5 ADA. Select the background you would like and click on Done.

You will be redirected back to the **Designer** tab and you can now see that your Handle has the background you selected. If you are happy with how it looks, click on **Checkout** at the top right.

On the Checkout screen, you will see on the right, the cost of the background (if any) + the Personalization fee of 3 ADA + Blockchain fees. In this case, the estimated total is 11.8 ADA. Click on **Create Transaction**

The UI will request you to approve or not, if you are happy with how it looks, click on **Approve** and the transaction will be created. It will take about a minute or 2 for the wallet pop-up to show, so that you can sign the Transaction.

Within a couple of minutes your Handle will be updated with the new background you just minted!


Personalize your Handle - Part 2

**Personalize your Handle - Part 3**

Adding a ribbon or shadow to the Handle Text, Social Media and QR code to your Handle.
-
In this lesson, you will learn how to add a ribbon/shadow to your Handle as well as how to add Social Media and QR code to your Handle.

As with previous lessons, first step is to navigate to [handle.me](https://handle.me) > connect your wallet > select the **Handle** you want to personalize on the top right and click on **Personalize**

Inside the **Designer** tab, click on Text. You will now see 2 options:
**1. Shadow** - adds a shadow on the Handle text.
**2. Ribbon** - adds a ribbon across the Handle the Handle text.

Toggle Shadow and Ribbon so you can see the different color options you can use.

Let's start with **Shadow**: Hover your mouse (or finger if using mobile wallet) over the White color under **Current color** and click on Pencil to edit the color.

Use the color slider to select which color you would like for the Shadow and click on **save**. In this case, I selected **green**.

Now that you have saved your color, you will see under Shadow, **Horizontal** and **Vertical**. This will determine the position of the shadow. Horizontal will move the shadow from left to the right and Vertical will move the shadow up and down. Play around with it and select the setting you like best.
Under **Blur** you can select how blurry you want the Shadow to be. As you increase the number, the more blurry the Shadow will be, as you decrease the number, the shadow will be sharper. In this example, I set up the blue to 3, so it's sharper.

**Ribbon**: As the example above, hover your mouse (or finger if using mobile wallet) and click on the pencil to edit the ribbon color. Use the slider to determine the color you would like and click on Save. In this example, I used the color **blue** for the ribbon.

As you can see, both Shadow and Ribbon were added to the Handle.

Let's move onto to Socials now.
You are able to add your social information to your Handle, such as: Discord, X (Twitter), Email, Website etc...You can add up to **3 socials** on the Handle itself and unlimited socials to your Handle Portal Page (a full lesson on the Handle portal page will be added, stay tuned).

On the left side, click on the Social Links tab:

Click on **+ Add and you will now see different options:
1. Socials - X Twitter and Discord, if you select any of these, you will be prompted to login using OAuth to both your X and Discord accounts.
2. Other - Website, Telephone and Email.

Select any of the options you would like, you will need to do this individually, 1 by 1.

In this example, I only added links (websites) but feel free to add whatever options you want.

Once you have set up all the socials you want, click on the **Designer** tab again and select **Socials**.

Toggle **Enable** and you will now see the socials you previously added:

Check the boxes of socials you would like to add to your Handle (3 is the limit):

Let's move on to QR code!

**QR Code** is self-explanatory, but you can add a QR code to your Handle and point that QR code to any URL you would like. So, click on **QR** inside the Designer tab and toggle **Link**, **Background Color** and **Dot Color**:

**Link** determines what the QR code resolves to when being scanned. By default, all Handles, when the QR code is enabled for the first time have this format: https://handle.me/handle-name. You can type in any URL you would like.
Click on the Pencil icon next to the URL and you will see the UI displays a few different things:
1. Socials that you had already added.
2. Wallet Address
3. Portal
4. Custom
Select the option you would like to resolve your QR code, in this example, I selected Custom and typed **https://google.com**:

If you scan the QR code on the image below, you will see that it now resolves to **google.com**

If you are happy with how your Handle looks, follow the same steps as the previous lessons, click on Checkout, click on Create Transaction, approve the design of your Handle and sign the transaction!

Personalize your Handle - Part 3

**Setting up your Handle Portal Page**

The Handle Portal page is an awesome tool and you can add many different things to it. This is an example of the portal page for the Handle $handle: https://handle.me/handle

1st step: navigate to [handle.me](https://handle.me) > connect your wallet > select the **Handle** you want to personalize on the top right and click on **Personalize**

Once you are inside Personalization, click on **Portal**:

Every single minted Handle gets assigned a Portal page and it comes with your Handle NFT image + your address. You can customize your portal page, so that it displays all sorts of information, such as: Profile header which you can add a PFP and background, Address, Handle NFT Image, Gallery, Socials, Cross-chain addresses, SubHandles (there will be a lesson for this), Text and Blank. All of these are widgets that you can add to your portal page:

**Profile Header**: This is where you can add a PFP and Banner to your portal page, similar to how you can set up on X (twitter).

**Address**: Display your Cardano address (where your Handle currently resides in).
**NFT**: Display Handle NFT Image.

**Gallery** Display on your portal page all of the NFTs and Tokens you have inside your wallet.

**Socials List**: Display all the socials that you previously added.

**Cross-chain**: Display your cross-chain addresses such as: BTC, ETH and SOL.

**SubHandles** add to your portal page SubHandle minting for your Handle.

**Text**: Add Text boxes to your page to add any sort of information you would like.

**Blank**: Add blank spaces between the widgets to create more space between them.

As you add widget and edit them, you can resize the widget as well as move them around:

One thing we at ADA Handle, particularly like is using the Handle Portal Page as your own "linktree" page, where you only have to pay blockchain fees (around 2 to 3 ADA). If you check https://handle.me/handle you can see we set up our socials as URLs that link to your minting page, Youtube videos and Discord invite link, it's a great tool!

Once you are done customizing your Portal Page, you can click on **Preview** to see how your Portal Page will look like before you checkout:

Setting up your Handle Portal Page

Chapter 1

By using an ADA Handle, sending and receving funds in Cardano becomes a lot easier.

Instead of sending or requesting funds using your long Cardano address, you can just simply send it to a Handle, such as $handle. ADA Handle is integrated across all Cardano wallets.
